Restoring Nature, One Tree at a Time

ree

On 15 February 2025, Ancom Nylex Berhad mobilised over 40 employees across its group of companies to plant 100 mangrove trees at the Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau in Kampung Sijangkang, Selangor. This hands-on environmental CSR initiative aimed to restore a vital mangrove ecosystem while deepening employee engagement around sustainability and biodiversity.

The planted mangroves are estimated to capture around 1.23 tonnes of CO₂ annually and store more than 30 tonnes over 25 years, reinforcing the long-term impact of nature-based climate solutions. This initiative is part of Ancom Nylex’s broader sustainability framework, themed “Embracing Chemicals for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” which focuses on balancing industrial growth with environmental stewardship.

Beyond reducing carbon emissions, mangrove ecosystems provide natural coastal protection, enhance water quality, and serve as crucial breeding grounds for marine life. The project also highlights the role companies can play in supporting Malaysia’s environmental goals while fostering meaningful team experiences.

At Light-Houze, we see this as a prime example of real CSR in action — grounded, measurable, and driven by purpose. Activities like these are not only good for the planet, but they also help build stronger, more engaged communities. With the right strategy and support, similar initiatives can be scaled or adapted by other corporates and SMEs across Malaysia.
